Some of my earliest memories involve family vacations.
As a very young kid, I remember staying at “Gramma Ray’s” cabins and having a lot of fun! You can imagine my shock as I grew older and learned there was no Gramma Ray at the cabins in Grand Marais, MN…
Another time, when I was a little older and had collected my first younger sister, we went to Itasca State Park and walked across the beginning of the Mississippi. Even at 6 years old, I knew that was something pretty cool.
Everyone wants … no … everyone NEEDS a vacation. For most people, the biggest obstacles are time and money. I get it. As a freelancer, I struggled for a long time with spending money or taking time away when I wasn’t always sure when my next work assignment was happening.
So the idea of finding ways to take a vacation in only 2 days and for $200 came to me. It’s reasonable, didn’t take me away from job possibilities and wouldn’t raid my savings.
I started to look for ways I could make these Two Day Travels happen: visiting places where there were family/friends so I didn’t have to pay for lodging, using airline points to go to cities I’d have to get a hotel, searching for deals and coupons, figuring out off-season adventures, etc.
There are all kinds of trips to explore: solo adventures, road trips, girl’s weekends, family reunions, educational & historical learning opportunities, relaxing retreats, too many to list off! And, I believe all of them can happen in the Two Day Travels world. They may not include a chance to see everything and that’s part of the process – researching, picking priorities, and deciding what that trip is about and how to make the most of it. Sometimes I’ll be successful, sometimes I won’t – but that’s all part of the fun.
So join me, as I explore and share how you can travel for 2 days and $200 at a time!
